Newton's Nightmare

Was Isaac Newton's apple-dropping epiphany enough to keep him dreaming about the fruit for years? We'll never know the answer to that question, but we can get a glimpse into what an apple nightmare would look like.

Introducing....Newton's Nightmare, a fantastic game filled with every apple imaginable. The virtual game board contains yellow delicious, granny smith, crab apples, and so much more. But what's the fun behind all of these apples?! You've got to get the matching ones together in rows of three - or four for extra points. The rows can be vertical or horizontal, but not diagonal. And you'll have to stick to one stubborn little rule : You can only change the places of two apples next to each other. That means that you'll have to scan the board for any apple that's just one place out of place.

Sounds easy? It's not as simple as you think. Sometimes, those misplaced apples just won't pop out at you. That's when the hint button comes in handy. If you opt to take a hint, you'll lose a few points, but sometimes you need that little push to get your game going.

Supposedly, the game ends when you run out of possible matches. I played for a while, and I never reached that point. You also lose points for every five seconds spent thinking, and of course, you gain points for every identical apple row you create. It's fun to see how high you can score, but I had a great time simply searching for the next match. I also loved the sharp graphics and crisp color scheme.

Once you start playing, you won't be able to stop.
