Play 1000 AD Tournament

If you like the speed, adrenalin and excitement of on line games, you will probably love on line tournaments. For anyone who has a competitive nature, 1000 AD game and tournament on line is a real fun and exciting strategy based game to play.

There are 10 different civilizations available and a ton of fantastical features in each, from horsemen, swordsmen to macemen and archers, etc. so when I play 1000 AD I can really live out my fantasy of fighting while remaining bloodless! I love to go for Zulu. It's not surprising this game has a rating of 8.6, but I would for sure give it a 10.

I also like the fact that 1000 AD is mac compatible. This is great for me because as a graphically enhanced individual, I love the macintosh. You have a few options too within the game: standard game; tournament game; blitz game and test game.

What you are aiming to do in 1000 AD is acquire any of the 3 types of land available: mountains, forest and plains, because you are trying to erect a building and all the buildings require this land to be developed on. So what you have to do is assess the kind of building you want, and then with that knowledge, see which of the 3 types of land you need. The way you get the land is pretty much by snatching it from other empires. You can also explore as a way to get land (which you are more likely to do in the first part of the game as if you conquer you need an army and that costs a lot of money which you don't want to spend initially).

So you want to work out how much time you want to spend on construction and thus how you want to invest in this; bear in mind that you have to use your time, money and building personnel wisely. You can see how much food you have (which helps you determine the speed of your population growth); what is going on with personnel (do you need to hire or fire staff?; is your original staff efficient?; is it worth constructing town centers?) Town centers are the most crucial buildings on the one hand but require huge resources on the other so think carefully about it. Make sure at the end of each segment you analyze the following: food consumption; heating use; population size; etc. I always find the status screen (which is there the whole time) very helpful as that indicates how much money you have and your goods as well as storage space.

So now you see what I mean by strategy! But it is fun strategy, so sit back, use your brain wisely and try and win!

Avoid the Butter with War on Toast

Given that our family is always fighting over who gets the next piece of toast every morning for breakfast, I thought Toast of War looked like it could be a fun game to play to which we could all relate. So I decided to check it out myself first and assess the situation. First you have to familiarize yourself with the controls. You have the cursors which act as the basic controls (left and right ? move left and right; cursor up, aim up; cursor down, crouch, aim down and get in toaster ? that really does look like a fun one!; A is jump or jump out of toaster; S is attack and the shift key is hold to run) and then the weapon controls (Q is left weapon slot; W is middle weapon slot and E is right weapon slot and then you have the space bar which picks up weapons). If you get a bit overwhelmed in the game (or the phone rings) you can press P for pause.

Anyway the aim of the game is for the toast to avoid being attacked by the butter. But it is not so easy to do as you have to really understand the control keys to know how to do that and fast. The graphics are fun and it starts with a little animation between a granddad toast and his grandson. The grandson is asking his grandpa to tell him the story of the toast and he keeps having to repeat it. And then you (the grandson I guess) have to find different and creative ways of avoiding being attacked by the butter.

I did a lot of jumping in my first few games as that was the control I was most comfortable with and it certainly helped me avoid being attacked by the butter but as I progressed and played more games, I felt more comfortable trying out the other controls too. Definitely with War on Toast the more often you play it, the better your skills become. It is a cute idea and the graphics are fun so I would for sure recommend it.
